Bashulia
What you can see and do
When the Chapra Beel in Basail upazila fills in the monsoon, the spot becomes known as Bashulia. Hire a boat to drift past a lone hijal tree standing in open water and villages on the far side. By winter the same place has dried into rice fields, so come during the rains.
How to get there
From Tangail town, an auto-rickshaw or bus along the Basail road reaches Bashulia in about half an hour.
Safety notes
Wear a life jacket on a boat; stay off the river when a storm is likely.
