Sonar Char
What you can see and do
Sonar Char, at the far south of Rangabali upazila on the Bay of Bengal, is a wildlife sanctuary. There is almost nothing here except a long golden beach, dense mangrove forest behind it, red crabs and winter migratory birds, and that emptiness is the reason to come.
How to get there
From Patuakhali go via Galachipa by launch or trawler to Char Montaz in Rangabali, then by trawler to Sonar Char; allow a full day.
