What you can see and do

The sands of Kuakata, in Kalapara upazila, run for about 18 km. The sun comes up out of the sea here and goes down into it again, and you can watch both from the same beach. The usual things to do are riding along the sand by motorcycle, watching fishermen bring in their catch and visiting the nearby Rakhine villages.

How to get there

About 70 km from Patuakhali town by bus via Kalapara; bridges have replaced the old ferry crossings on this road.

Follow the lifeguards and flags before you enter the sea; stay out of deep water at high tide or in heavy surf.
