What you can see and do

Rema-Kalenga is a natural hill forest in Chunarughat, right on the Indian border. Of its kind it is among the larger forests in the country, yet comparatively few people come. Trails may turn up monkeys, langurs and squirrels. There are many kinds of birds too, as well as a watchtower and a small lake. The way in is rough, so choose the dry season and take a local guide.

How to get there

Go from Habiganj town via Shayestaganj to Chunarughat, then take a CNG or motorbike to the Kalenga beat office.

Safety notes

Check the entry rules and permits with the forest department or local authority first; do not go deep without a guide.
