What you can see and do

Baikka Beel lies on the eastern edge of Hail Haor near Sreemangal. It is a permanent sanctuary for fish and birds. Migratory ducks and other waterbirds arrive in winter, and purple swamphens, cormorants and egrets are here all year. The watchtower is best at dawn, when water lilies and lotus are also open across the beel.

How to get there

From Sreemangal town take a CNG or jeep about 18 km via Kalapur on the Moulvibazar road; the last stretch is unpaved.

Safety notes

Wear a life jacket on a boat; stay off the river when a storm is likely.
