Panthumai Waterfall (Pangthumai)

Sylhet · Waterfall

What you can see and do

From Panthumai village in West Jaflong, Gowainghat, visitors look across to a waterfall descending from the Meghalaya hills. The cascade is strongest in the monsoon, with the Piyain River and the hill backdrop on the Bangladesh side completing the view. This is a border area: follow security instructions, do not cross marked boundaries and take care near the water.

How to get there

From Sylhet, take the Jaflong road towards Gowainghat, then follow local roads to Panthumai village in West Jaflong. Check the final road and transport locally. The waterfall is across the border, so view it from the Bangladesh side.

Safety notes

Rocks by a waterfall are slippery and the water can rise suddenly after rain; keep clear of the current.
