What you can see and do

Jaflong is in Gowainghat, at the zero point of the Indian border. Here the Dawki river leaves the Meghalaya hills, enters Bangladesh and becomes the Piyain. The river is so clear you see its bed of pebbles. Look across to falls on the hillside. The suspension bridge is there too; the view has long drawn visitors. Across the river are the Khasia village and tea garden of Sangrampunji.

How to get there

Start from Kadamtali or Sobhanighat in Sylhet city. Buses, legunas and CNGs run on the Tamabil road. It is about 60 km, around two hours.

Safety notes

Wear a life jacket on a boat; stay off the river when a storm is likely.
