What you can see and do

Ramu upazila, next to Cox's Bazar, is an old settlement of Rakhine and Barua Buddhists with many monasteries and pagodas in a small area. The best known sight is the 100-foot reclining Buddha on a hilltop at Uttar Mithachhari. You can also visit Ramu Central Sima Vihara and the old wooden kyaungs.

How to get there

Take a bus or CNG out of Cox's Bazar town along the Chattogram road for about 16 km to Ramu, then an auto-rickshaw between the monasteries.

Safety notes
