What you can see and do

Sonadia is a small island south-west of Maheshkhali. Its sandbars are empty, and there are casuarina groves and mangroves. Many migratory birds come in winter, the rare spoon-billed sandpiper among them. Red crabs move over the sand in swarms, and sea turtles lay their eggs on the beach. Facilities are very limited, so go prepared.

How to get there

Go by speedboat or trawler from the No. 6 jetty in Cox's Bazar town, or via Ghotibhanga on Maheshkhali and then by boat.

Safety notes

Confirm the boat times and your way back first; services stop in bad weather.
