What you can see and do

Emperor Aurangzeb's son Prince Azam started this 17th-century Mughal fort, but it was never completed. The tomb of Pari Bibi is one of its main buildings. East of the tomb is the audience hall with its hammam. A mosque with three domes stands to the west. The lawns and water channels are pleasant for a late-afternoon walk.

How to get there

From Azimpur or the New Market area it is an easy rickshaw ride. The fort is in Lalbagh, Old Dhaka.

Safety notes

Do not climb on old walls or ruins or write on them; check the opening hours and closing days first.
