What you can see and do

Dhakeshwari is an important part of Old Dhaka?s heritage and the National Temple of Bangladesh. Its present architecture reflects repairs and rebuilding over time, while local tradition connects the temple with the origin of Dhaka?s name. The compound is especially lively during worship and festivals.

How to get there

The temple is near Dhaka University and Lalbagh. Buses, rickshaws and CNG auto-rickshaws run from Gulistan and Shahbag; check local crowd and access arrangements during festivals.

Safety notes
