Tanguar Haor
What you can see and do
Tanguar Haor spreads across Tahirpur and nearby upazilas below the Meghalaya hills. It is the second Ramsar site in the country. In the monsoon it is clear water to the horizon, dotted with hijal and koroch treetops. In the cold months flocks of migratory birds come down. Stay a night on a boat and visit the watchtower and Tekerghat.
How to get there
Take a CNG or motorbike from Sunamganj town to Tahirpur and board a boat there; in the monsoon boats also leave from the town ghat.
Safety notes
Wear a life jacket on a boat; stay off the river when a storm is likely.
