Dingapota Haor

Netrokona · Rivers and haors

What you can see and do

Dingapota Haor in Mohanganj upazila turns into a sea-like expanse of water in the monsoon. Hire a trawler to see villages floating like islands, lines of hijal and koroch trees and fishermen's boats. In the dry season the same haor becomes green fields of boro rice and grazing land for cattle and buffalo.

How to get there

Mohanganj is about 30 km east of Netrokona town by train or bus; from there take an auto-rickshaw to the haor ghat.

Safety notes

Wear a life jacket on a boat; stay off the river when a storm is likely.
