What you can see and do

This deep-blue lake at Tekerghat in Tahirpur formed in the pit of an abandoned limestone quarry. Low green hillocks rise on one side, and the high Meghalaya hills stand just across the border on the other. Its official name, Shahid Siraj Lake, honours a martyred freedom fighter, but visitors mostly know it as Niladri.

How to get there

Go by motorbike or CNG from Sunamganj town via Laurer Garh to Tekerghat, about two hours. In the monsoon you can also arrive by boat from the haor.

Safety notes

Wear a life jacket on a boat; stay off the river when a storm is likely.
