What you can see and do

Rajban Vihara, beside Kaptai Lake in Rangamati town, is a major pilgrimage site for the country's Buddhists. The revered monk Sadhanananda Mahasthavir, known as Bana Bhante, spent long years in spiritual practice here; his body is preserved in the monastery. Robes are made at the festival of Kathin Chibar Dan. Yarn is spun and the monks' cloth woven, all within 24 hours.

How to get there

A CNG auto-rickshaw from Banarupa or Reserve Bazar in Rangamati town takes 10 to 15 minutes; you can also go by boat.

Safety notes

Dress modestly at a place of worship, keep quiet during prayers and ask before taking photographs.
