What you can see and do

No older city has yet been found in Bangladesh; the history of Mahasthangarh goes back to at least the 3rd century BCE. The city's ruins lie along the west bank of the Karatoya. Walk the high ramparts of the citadel, then visit the site museum and the surrounding mounds to grasp the scale of ancient Pundranagar.

How to get there

Take the Rangpur highway north from Bogura town for about 13 km. A bus or CNG auto-rickshaw gets there in half an hour.

Safety notes

Do not climb on old walls or ruins or write on them; check the opening hours and closing days first.
