Bardhan Kuthi

Gaibandha · History and heritage

What you can see and do

Bardhan Kuthi in Gobindaganj was the seat of an old zamindar family of this region. After the family left following Partition, the old buildings slowly fell into decay. Gobindaganj Government College now stands on the old palace grounds, and the crumbling buildings that survive there still recall that history.

How to get there

Gobindaganj is about 38 km south-west of Gaibandha town, a little over an hour by bus. From there take an auto-rickshaw or CNG to Gobindaganj Government College, which stands on the Bardhan Kuthi grounds.

Safety notes

Do not climb on old walls or ruins or write on them; check the opening hours and closing days first.
