What you can see and do

Chalan Beel spreads over Sirajganj, Pabna and Natore together. It is the biggest beel in Bangladesh. On the way from Hatikumrul to Bonpara, reach Tarash in the monsoon and you will see water brimming on both sides of the road. Here the highway cuts straight through the beel. Hire a boat to see villages, fishing and water lilies; in winter the land turns yellow with mustard.

How to get there

From Sirajganj town take a bus via Hatikumrul to Mohishluti or Tarash, about an hour and a half. The bus runs along the Bonpara highway.

Safety notes

Wear a life jacket on a boat; stay off the river when a storm is likely.
