Habiganj · Places of worship

What you can see and do

The Vaishnava saint Ramakrishna Goswami founded this monastery in the 16th century at Bithangal, out in the haor wetlands of Baniachong. Its 120 cells for 120 devotees, the old temple and the founder's tomb still stand. In the monsoon the land around is under water, and the boat trip across the haor is the highlight.

How to get there

In the monsoon, take an engine boat from Kalardoba ghat near Habiganj town across the haor; it takes about two hours.

Safety notes

Dress modestly at a place of worship, keep quiet during prayers and ask before taking photographs.
