Buses from Dhaka to Jhalokathi now run over the Padma Bridge and through Barishal; those on the ticketing platform are mostly coaches bound for Bhandaria, Kathalia or Mathbaria that stop at Jhalokathi. For travel on 10–12 Oct 2026 non-AC seats were Tk 700–800 (Labiba, Hanif). Sakura Paribahan's Sayedabad–Jhalokathi (Padma Bridge) coaches were Tk 700 non-AC and Tk 800 AC. Caution: BRTA's list has only one route named for Jhalokathi, from Gabtoli by the Paturia ferry, 258 km, Tk 887 on a 40-seat bus and Tk 695 on a 51-seat bus; it has no separate Jhalokathi fare for the Padma Bridge road (Pirojpur via Jhalokathi is 225 km, Tk 801/628). Because the official list has no fare for the road the buses actually use, no regulated fare is shown. The 182 km given here is from RHD's district distance matrix (shortest route from Dhaka Zero Point). The bus table on the district portal is out of date.

Launches and ferries

Jhalokathi → Sadarghat Launch Terminal, Dhaka (Irregular)

Until December 2025 Nizam Shipping Lines' Adventure-9 ran Dhaka-Barishal-Jhalokathi; after a collision in the Meghna on the night of 25 Dec 2025 (four dead) the vessel was seized and its route permit cancelled. After that, for Eid-ul-Fitr 2026 (17 March) passengers did travel from Sadarghat to Jhalokathi by launch, though loads were light. 199 km, official deck ceiling about Tk 585. Regular running outside the festival season in 2026 could not be confirmed; the fallback is a launch to Barishal and then road.
