Bhola is an island district. No operator running a direct bus from Dhaka to Bhola town could be confirmed from a reliable 2026 source; BRTA's list has no route named Dhaka–Bhola town, and neither does BRTC's route list. For travel to Dhaka the district portal lists the launches from Ilisha and Bhola Kheyaghat (5–6 hours by direct launch). By road there are two ways: (1) bus over the Padma Bridge to Barishal, then a launch (2 h 20 min) or speedboat (45 min) to Bhola; (2) bus to Lakshmipur, then the ferry, sea-truck or launch from Moju Chowdhury Hat to Ilisha Ghat. The portal gives 5–6 hours by bus via Barishal and 6–7 hours via Lakshmipur, and road distances of 247 km via Barishal and 240 km via Lakshmipur (RHD's district distance matrix has 205 km by the shortest route). BRTA does list Sayedabad–Charfasson routes through Bhola: via Barishal and Bhola 342 km, Tk 1,245 on a 40-seat bus and Tk 976 on a 51-seat bus; via Lakshmipur and Bhola 278 km, Tk 1,027 and 806 (ferry tolls included); which buses, if any, run them is not confirmed. For the buses on those first legs, see the routes from Dhaka to Barishal and to Lakshmipur.
There is no direct intercity train between these two districts.
Bhola's routes were hit less by the Padma Bridge, though many people now take a bus to Barishal and continue to Bhola by launch or speedboat. It runs on ordinary days too: on the night of 19 Jun 2026 passengers were boarding a Bhola-bound Ilisha launch at Sadarghat (a night sailing), and on 7 Jul 2026 BIWTA said launches on the Ilisha-Dhaka route were running normally. Before Eid-ul-Adha 2026 (25 May) the Ilisha route was busy in the morning, so there are daytime sailings; for Eid-ul-Fitr 2026 MV Tipu-6 and MV Yad-1 ran special Bosila-Sadarghat-Ilisha trips. There is also a separate "Dhaka-Bhola" route (151 km in the BIWTA chart, deck ceiling about Tk 455). To Ilisha it is 119 km with an official deck ceiling of about Tk 368; the fare actually charged and exact departure times were not confirmed.

The main link between Charfasson and Dhaka. Reported on 25 Sep 2026: after the fuel price rise deck went from Tk 400 to Tk 600, single cabin from Tk 1,200 to Tk 1,500 and double cabin to Tk 2,800; passengers called this overcharging, and the official deck ceiling for 195 km is about Tk 574, so it may come down. The departure time is that of one launch (MV Tasrif-4, 25 May 2026, 19:00); around Eid there is no fixed timetable and launches leave when full. Calls at Daulatkhan and Hakimuddin.

Launches to Lalmohan were reported running at both 2026 Eids, and in August 2025 BIWTA said the Lalmohan-Dhaka route was operating as usual. The departure time is that of one launch (MV Al Araf-7, 25 May 2026, about 18:00). 197 km, official deck ceiling about Tk 580; the fare actually charged and the 2026 timetable outside the Eid season were not confirmed, so phone the ghat.

Whether a direct Hakimuddin launch sails every day could not be confirmed, so this is marked irregular. What is known: Hakimuddin (Mirzakalu) is an intermediate ghat of the Dhaka-Betua route in the official fare chart (157 km from Dhaka, deck ceiling about Tk 471), so Betua-bound launches may call here; ask before boarding. Launches ran on this route at the 2026 Eids (MV Tipu made special Bosila-Sadarghat-Hakimuddin trips for Eid-ul-Fitr; passengers for this route were seen at Sadarghat on 25 May 2026). In August 2025 BIWTA said the Borhanuddin-Dhaka route was operating as usual; the separate Borhanuddin route is 190 km (about Tk 561).
