What you can see and do

Traces found in the two villages of Wari and Bateshwar, in Belabo upazila, belong to a fortified city dating back some 2,500 years. Digging has turned up silver punch-marked coins, stone beads and iron artefacts. An ancient road and brick structures have come out of the ground as well. The site matters to research on early settlement and trade routes in Bangladesh, and study of it continues. The village's archaeological collection displays many of these finds. Do not disturb the soil in excavation areas or take anything away.
