What you can see and do

The Singra sal forest in Birganj upazila is one of the natural forests still standing on the northern plains, and is now a national park. Besides sal there are teak, jam and many climbers, and the small Norto river runs through the woods. Spend a few hours walking its leaf-strewn paths and listening to birds.

How to get there

About 40 km north of Dinajpur town on the Thakurgaon highway, past Birganj; leave the bus there and take an auto-rickshaw to the forest.

Safety notes

Check the entry rules and permits with the forest department or local authority first; do not go deep without a guide.
