What you can see and do

The house of Nawab Faizunnesa Chowdhurani stands on the bank of the Dakatia river at Paschimgaon in Laksam. Queen Victoria gave her the title 'Nawab' in 1889 for her work in women's education and public welfare, a rare honour for a woman in the subcontinent. The old house, mosque and family graveyard remain.

How to get there

Go from Cumilla town to Laksam by bus or train, then take a rickshaw or auto-rickshaw a few minutes to the Nawab Bari at Paschimgaon.
