What you can see and do

The old name of the place is Baidyanathtala; it later became Mujibnagar. Bangladesh's first government took its oath in the mango grove here. That was on 17 April 1971. You can still visit the memorial of 23 triangular walls and the rows of old mango trees. In August 2024, however, several hundred sculptures in the complex were vandalised. Those on the very large map of the wartime sectors were not spared. As of August 2026 the damage had not been repaired.

How to get there

About 15-18 km south of Meherpur town by road; buses and small local vehicles run to Mujibnagar.
