Munshiganj · Rivers and haors

What you can see and do

Mawa Ghat in Louhajang upazila was once the main ferry crossing to the south-west; now the spans of the Padma Bridge can be seen from here, one after another. Many people come from Dhaka just to eat freshly fried hilsa at the riverside eateries. In the afternoon you can go round the river by boat and watch the sunset.

How to get there

From Munshiganj town, a bus or CNG via Louhajang reaches Mawa in about 1.5 hours.

Safety notes

Wear a life jacket on a boat; stay off the river when a storm is likely.
