What you can see and do

Chilmari port on the Brahmaputra is known all over Bengal through bhawaiya folk songs. From Ramna Ghat boats run to Roumari, Rajibpur and countless chars. In winter the river narrows and mile after mile of sandbars emerge, making this a fine place to see both the bustle of the ghat and life on the chars.

How to get there

About 35 km south of Kurigram town via Ulipur; a little over an hour by bus or auto-rickshaw.

Safety notes

Wear a life jacket on a boat; stay off the river when a storm is likely.
