What you can see and do

This natural cave lies under Alutila hill, right at the entrance to Khagrachhari town. It is about 100 metres long. People of the area know it as Matai Hakor. They also call it the gods' cave. No light gets in at all, so you carry a torch, go in by one mouth and come out by the other. A cold stream flows over the floor. The hilltop looks over the town.

How to get there

Take an auto-rickshaw or jeep about 7 km along the Chattogram road from Khagrachhari town; it takes around 20 minutes.

Safety notes

Hill paths turn slippery in the rains and landslides are possible; be down before dusk and take a local guide where needed.
