What you can see and do

Mandarbaria lies at the far southern edge of the Sundarbans, where the forest meets the Bay of Bengal. This long sandy shore has dense mangroves on one side and open sea on the other, and very few people reach it; those who do report deer and tiger tracks in the sand.

How to get there

From Burigoalini or Nildumur ghat in Shyamnagar, a long trawler journey with a Forest Department permit; you sleep on the boat.

Safety notes

Follow the lifeguards and flags before you enter the sea; stay out of deep water at high tide or in heavy surf.
