What you can see and do

Cheuriya in Kumarkhali holds the tomb and akhra of Fakir Lalon Shah. People call him emperor of the Bauls. His followers sing here all year, ektara in hand. A festival of several days is held at Dol Purnima in spring. The same happens in October, on the anniversary of his death; both times Bauls and devotees gather from far away.

How to get there

A rickshaw or easy bike from Mojompur or Baro Bazar in Kushtia town reaches Cheuriya in 15 to 20 minutes.

Safety notes

Dress modestly at a place of worship, keep quiet during prayers and ask before taking photographs.
