What you can see and do

Known to everyone as Guthia Mosque, this is properly Baitul Aman Jame Masjid. It was built at Guthia in Uzirpur in the 2000s and, with its Eidgah, is one of the largest mosque complexes in southern Bangladesh. With a tall minaret, large domes, a pond and laid-out gardens, it looks its best when lit at dusk.

How to get there

Guthia is on the Banaripara road beyond Durga Sagar, about 20 km out of Barishal city. Go by bus or auto-rickshaw.

Safety notes

Dress modestly at a place of worship, keep quiet during prayers and ask before taking photographs.
