What you can see and do

This very large pond at Madhabpasha in Babuganj was dug in 1780 by the Chandradwip royal family and named after Rani Durgabati. A small wooded island lies at the centre of the pond. A path runs round the banks, and the shade is good for a slow afternoon. In winter you can see migratory birds here.

How to get there

About 12 km from Barishal city on the Banaripara road; get off a bus, auto-rickshaw or Mahindra at Madhabpasha.

Safety notes

Wear a life jacket on a boat; stay off the river when a storm is likely.
