What you can see and do
Gajni Recreation Centre, on hillocks covered in sal forest in the Garo Hills of Jhenaigati upazila, is the most popular outing in Sherpur. The watchtower on the hilltop looks over green hills all around. Go down and you find a lake and a suspension bridge. The hill paths are good for a ramble too. In winter the place fills with picnic parties, so come midweek for quiet.
How to get there
Head north from Sherpur town through Jhenaigati. It is about 30 km, an hour or so by CNG auto-rickshaw or bus.
Safety notes
Hill paths turn slippery in the rains and landslides are possible; be down before dusk and take a local guide where needed.
