What you can see and do

From the old dak bungalow at Tetulia the snow-covered peak of Kanchenjunga is visible, though not every day: it takes a clear dawn in October or November. The building stands on the high bank of the Mahananda. Below, people gather stones from the river; Indian tea gardens lie beyond. Further north, Banglabandha Zero Point marks the northernmost edge of Bangladesh.

How to get there

Tetulia is about 40 km north of Panchagarh town, around an hour and a half by bus; Banglabandha is a further 17 km.

Safety notes

Wear a life jacket on a boat; stay off the river when a storm is likely.
